With the full support from the University of Macau Development Foundation (UMDF), the University of Macau has established the UMDF Named Professorships and the UMDF Professorial Fellowships as significant honours to outstanding scholars in specialized disciplines. It aims to achieve breakthroughs and innovations in various disciplines by a more flexible input of resources so as to develop our own cutting edge characteristics in teaching and research, and as a result, our overall academic standards and competitiveness could be raised.

The University of Macau Development Foundation Named Professorship Lecture, a new sub-series of the well-received University Lecture Series, will feature different named professors as the keynote speaker. By sharing their academic experiences and achievements, the named professors will be in closer contact with the community and with our students in particular. Academic exchange and interaction will be strengthened, which will make UM a better place to learn and study.

In this inaugural lecture, we are pleased to have Prof. Richard Weixing HU, Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences, be our keynote speaker. Prof. Hu is the first scholar in UM endowed with the UMDF named professorship as the University of Macau Development Foundation Distinguished Professor of Politics and Public Policy. He will speak on the topic “The Discourse Analysis of Revisionism and Contemporary Sino-American Relations”. He will provide a critique of the existing discourse on revisionism, and of the contemporary Sino-American relations.
