The Third Workshop on Computational Social Sciences organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences of Macao University was successfully held recently. The workshop was hosted by Dean Weixing HU, and the speakers, Professor Tianji CAI, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Professor of the Department of Sociology, presented the research results on organized sex transactions in Macau using face recognition, text mining and network analysis techniques.

In his one-hour lecture, Prof. Tianji CAI used organized sex transactions in Macau as the starting point to show how computational social science can reveal social phenomena through artificial intelligence and big data analysis, especially social facts that are difficult to be uncovered by traditional research methods.

The workshop was held online and offline simultaneously, attracting many teachers, students and the public to participate.
