The University of Macau (UM) Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) Alumni Association held its inauguration ceremony on 13 March 2026. The first General Assembly and Board of Directors were sworn in, witnessed by Professor Rui Martins, vice rector (global affairs) of UM, and Cindy Lam, director of the Alumni and Development Office. The association aims to unite alumni, build a platform for academic and practical exchange, serve society, and contribute to the development of public governance in the Greater Bay Area (GBA).

As the first Chinese-medium DPA programme in Greater China, the DPA programme at UM has, since its establishment in 2021, cultivated more than 140 professionals and leaders from a wide range of sectors. In his remarks, Professor Weixing Hu, dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, emphasized that the programme is committed to nurturing public governance professionals who combine rigorous professional expertise with a strong sense of responsibility to society and the nation. He further noted that the establishment of the DPA Alumni Association brings together this distinguished community of graduates into a cohesive and dynamic network—one capable of generating collective insight, advancing professional exchange, and contributing meaningfully to the development of public governance in Macao and the GBA.

Xinyu Zhang, president of the DPA Alumni Association, stated that the association will serve as a bridge to connect resources within the GBA and expand international perspectives. Rainbow Lee, director-general of the association, added that the Board of Directors will uphold the spirit of the DPA programme and build a platform for alumni to offer suggestions for policymaking.

The establishment of the association comes as UM approaches its 45th anniversary. The association pledges to inherit the university’s spirit, fulfill its mission, and assist Macao in better integrating into national development.
