The Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) at the University of Macau has recently joined the “China-Arab Network of Schools of Public Policy and Administration” (CANSPPA). Joining CANSPPA not only further strengthens the cooperation and exchange between Chinese and Arab universities in the field of public policy but also marks a new milestone in the University of Macau’s international cooperation in this area.

CANSPPA, initiated by the Institute for Global Public Policy of Fudan University, is a non-profit academic network aimed at promoting knowledge sharing, policy coordination, and joint talent cultivation between China and Arab countries. It is a concrete measure to implement the “Eight Joint Actions” of pragmatic cooperation between China and Arab countries proposed by President Xi Jinping at the first China-Arab States Summit, specifically the “Joint Action for Youth Talent Development” and the “China-Arab University 10 +10 Cooperation Plan”. CANSPPA may develop into an open South-South dialogue between China and Arab countries that creates and shares knowledge on common policy and governance issues such as global climate adaptation, economic transition, urban rejuvenation, technological innovation and digital transition, poverty alleviation, sustainable development, and social equity. In the future, FSS will actively participate in CANSPPA activities. With the support of the Global Public Policy Institute of Fudan University, the leading Chinese institution in the “China-Arab University 10 +10 Cooperation Plan” in the field of public policy, it will collaborate with Arab countries in promoting student exchanges, joint courses, and research to jointly address global development challenges and promote a more equitable and sustainable global order.

The four new member institutions include the Faculty of Governance, Economics and Social Sciences, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, the School of Public Policy and Administration at Xi’an Jiaotong University, the School of Public Administration at Sichuan University, and the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Macau. The number of CANSPPA members has expanded from the initial twelve founding members to sixteen. The addition of new members not only expands the network’s influence but also provides more opportunities for cooperation among member institutions.
