The Department of Government and Public Administration of the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) of the University of Macau held the Greater Bay Area Peace Research Exchange Conference from July 2 to July 3, bringing together top scholars from Australia, Japan, South Korea and the United States for in-depth discussions and exchanges.

Prof. Richard Weixing HU, Dean of FSS, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the conference, introducing to the guests the development of the new campus of the University of Macau. Prof. Daina Chiba hosted over this conference and introduced the Pacific International Political Conference (PIPC) and the academic journal Conflict Management and Peace Science (CMPS).

The conference covered the following topics: “Conflict Research”, “Diplomacy and Public Opinion”, and “International Comparative Political Economy”. Scholars shared their ongoing research in speeches on different themes, starting from the perspectives of power and proximity, interpretation of relevant policies, comparative advantages of the system, and gender competition, etc. a roundtable discussion of “Dialogues with Journal Editors – Practices of Area-specific and Field-specific Academic Journals”, all participants had an in-depth discussions and exchanges with members of the Steering Committee of the Pacific International Political Conference (PIPC) and editors of the academic journal Conflict Management and Peace Sciences (CMPS). They brought the unique insights in the academic field of international relations to the audience, followed by Q&A session.

This conference aims to promote academic exchanges between scholars in the Greater Bay Area and the Asia-Pacific region. Through a series of lectures, discussions and networking opportunities, we are committed to building long-term partnerships and advancing scholarship in the field of international relations on a global scale.
