The Conference on Macromanagement and Policy Studies in the Greater Bay Area, part of the “15th Five-Year Plan” Strategic Research Project sponsored by the Division of Management Science of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), was earlier successfully held in Zhuhai. Guided by the NSFC and hosted by the University of Science and Technology of China, with Beijing Normal University as the co-organizer, the conference brought together leading scholars from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Sun Yat-Sen University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and other prestigious institutions in the Greater Bay Area. The event provided a high-level platform for in-depth discussion on the future directions of macromanagement and policy research. Representing the University of Macau (UM), Prof. Yonghong Wu, Head of the Department of Government and Public Administration of the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS), and Prof. Bo Wen, Assistant Dean of FSS, were invited to attend the conference and made impressive academic contributions.
During the morning keynote session, Prof. Wu delivered a talk on “Regional Disparities in U.S. Research Funding and Policy Responses”, which offered a comparative perspective and generated lively discussion among participants. In the afternoon roundtable forum on “Advancing Cross-Regional and Interdisciplinary Research in Macromanagement and Policy Studies,” Prof. Wen shared forward-looking insights and innovative proposals, highlighting the University of Macau’s active engagement in national-level academic dialogues.
Their participation not only enhanced the visibility of UM in China’s public administration and policy research community but also underscored UM’s growing role as a hub for academic exchange and collaboration in the Greater Bay Area. FSS will continue to foster partnerships with leading institutions in mainland China and beyond, contributing knowledge and expertise to the development of public administration and governance in the region.
