Nearly a thousand new students attended the 2025/2026 student orientation at the University of Macau’s Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) last week, officially embarking on their academic journey. They are enrolled in five undergraduate programmes, nine master’s programmes, and seven doctoral programmes offered by the faculty.

Prof. Richard Weixing Hu, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS), extended a warm welcome to the new members of the FSS community. He encouraged students to make the most of their formative years at the University of Macau by remaining diligent, disciplined, and purposeful. He also urged them to leverage the university’s abundant resources, embrace the opportunities presented by the AI era, and pursue excellence through innovative and joyful learning—integrating personal growth with national development.

Several new students expressed their excitement about broadening their horizons and enhancing their academic and personal skills at UM. While some aim to explore diverse education systems and Macao’s unique cultural landscape, others look forward to engaging with UM’s vibrant community and building meaningful friendships. All share a strong belief that UM’s supportive environment will empower their development, and they are eager to embark on a rewarding and transformative journey.
