3. Second prize for my paper on “what it means to be a peasant: a case study of a village in northern China” at the 17th annual conference of the Chinese Sociological Association from July 20-22, 2007 in Changsha. The conference received 544 papers. Ten of them
won a first prize, and 22 won a second prize.
