On January 12, the Russian Centre of FSS hosted a Zoom lecture delivered by Mr. Igor Sagitov, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Hong Kong and Macao. The lecture, entitled “Russian-Chinese Relations in the Modern World”, was the sixth of the lecture series presented by Russian Centre to the UM community this academic year. In the lecture, Mr. Sagitov reviewed the long-standing history of traditional friendship and long-term mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Russia, and shared his vision of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Russia in the new era and provide a glimpse of recent developments achieved despite the pandemic. On behalf of Professor Edmund Li Sheng, director of Russia Centre, Professor You Ji introduced the speaker at the beginning of lecture. In the Q&A session, Mr. Sagitov responded to the audiences’ concerns about the future development of Sino-Russian relations and the prospect of cooperation between Russia and the Greater Bay Area.
